What is supported living?

This page tells you about supported living - choosing where you live, who with and how you get support.
Supported living means that you are supported to live in the way you want:

Your housing and support is built around you rather than you fitting in to a service.

  • You choose who you live with (if anyone).
  • You choose where you live.
  • You choose who supports you and how you are supported.

In supported living, people are supported to take control of their life.

Supported living is not just for people who are more independent. Anyone can have support to live in their own home with the right support.

There are some standards called REACH that tell you how to check if your service is really supported living. You can get them from Paradigm.
